STU 1212: Landscape Architecture IV
Danielle Choi and Pierre Bélanger
Spring 2018
As a counterproposal to UNESCO, we explore the possibility of allowing these latent ruins, some of which are actually “palenques” or communes formed by escaped slaves in the 1700s, to facilitate uphill migration, farming, and small-scale, informal inhabitation which preserve local practices and prevent further degradation of the landscape in the face of climate change and tourism.
